Born in Paris, France, Patrick Bonneau has always been a visual person. He studied Art in different schools in Paris, growing up surrounded by sculptures, fountains, museums, and architecture. Paris was a perfect place to educate his eyes and mind in Art.
In the later years in Paris, Patrick studied the art of Traditional and Computer Animation at the CFT Gobelins, where he graduated in both fields in 1993. He then moved to San Francisco to work for George Lucas's ILM, where he worked for 6 years. During this time, he contributed to movies like "DragonHeart," "Mars Attacks," "Jurassic Park: The Lost World," "Men In Black," "Star Wars Episode 1," and "Mission to Mars." Patrick won three Clio Awards during this period.
Patrick also worked for DreamWorks Animation and Disney Animation, contributing to movies such as "Shrek 2" and "3," "Madagascar 1" and "2," and "Tangled," among others. After 20 years in the Animation industry, Patrick decided to focus on his passion: Sculpture.
While working on these movies for 20 years, Patrick always kept practicing drawing shapes and forms, which prepared him for his Art today. He admires the work of artists like Henry Moore, Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro, and architects like Le Corbusier, Kenzo Tange, Pier Luigi Nervi, among others.
Patrick has been working on his Art for over a year now and knows he will never stop, as it is a dream come true. He is also influenced by intellectuals and poets like Joseph Campbell, who said, “If you do follow your bliss you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. Follow your bliss and don't be afraid, and doors will open where you didn't know they were going to be.” ― Joseph Campbell.
